crazy

so aparently, the sun is as inactive as it has been in 100 years, but may surge in the next couple of years causing certain destruction. iran is continuing with nuclear weapons grade stuff. america's president is rubbing elbows with world tyrants. our taxes are climbing. our nation's debt is climbing even faster. corporations are squandering money handed them by our government. america has turned to socialism. our government wants to buy out the middle man and be the sole provider of school loans. global warming exists. global warming is a myth. polar caps are melting. polar caps are re-freezing. the oceans are still salty and i don't belive in dinosaurs - but do have a decent collection of gnomes...

now is a really good time to enjoy life. i'm brewing beer for the first time and will drink it as soon as i am able. my wife is starting to grow seeds in our basement to plant early so that we can have a nice little garden. we're spending lots of time together. we are still trying to teach our son that throwing food is less than appropriate...

advice: leave work at work, but take home with you wherever you go. the only reason you have a job is to enjoy things outside of it. don't get sucked into the idea that "stuff" matters. oh, and by the way, scary crap sells papers. go outside and enjoy that sun (if it's visible where you are) until that sucker bursts. nothing we can do about it anyway.

have a great weekend and remember...monday is just another name for saturday. you choose whether or not to enjoy it.

mac, out.

our children need us...

i have been sitting here on my laptop for about two hours, just trying to catch up on emails, scheduling, correspondence and of course - the blog. my son was upstairs sleeping, his mother was doing her own catching up on our upstairs computer, when he started crying. he cried for almost a half-hour while my wife tried to soothe him. i went up for a bit, but wasn't helping, so i went back downstairs and just listened on the monitor. eventually, my wife put in a movie and the two of them are currently snuggling until he falls back to sleep. it's nothing major really, he's not a fussy kid at all. he's just getting more teeth. he's got almost all of his teeth now, which means there isn't as much room for any more, and it seems to be that they are becoming increasingly irritating to him. but as i listened, i couldn't help but feel strong knowing that he has two parents who love him very, very much. i also started thinking about his future (something i spend a great deal of time considering). he needs us. not only does he need me and his mother, but he needs anyone reading this or not reading this. we need to work together to make sure that this world is in decent shape for our children. my son is crying now, but if we don't change the way we live and act now, he will be in agony over our choices later. the government in this country is growing ever more powerful and liberty is fleeting. we have voted in a change that will not be reversed without terrible consequences. the world at large is crumbling into immorality and a growing disregard for human life and the earth as we know it. greed and malice are taking over our business practices and children's lives are a check box on a ballot. when did we become so conceited? when did we decide we no longer have to worry about those who follow us? did not our forefathers settle on these lands for a better world (not for themselves but) for their children? we settle in houses for us and hope to get out before foreclosure engulfs our children. we have promiscuous sex and then blame the fetus that grows as a result. we buy up properties we know we'll never afford in hopes of turning a quicker profit and making the burden someone else's to bear. this is not what i was taught as a child. this is unacceptable. i am sickened by the state of my country and this world. don't think that i am being unpatriotic as i will fight for what this country once stood for. but don't make the mistake (this is to you Mr. Government) of thinking that if you pass a law, i will simply roll over and obey. the bible says render unto caesar what is caesar's...many politicians use this, but they forget that it is followed with "...render unto God what is God's". the politicians of today forget that this was and always will be One Country, Under God. i don't see caesar anywhere in there.

free markets or bust

i am a registered libertarian. as such, i firmly believe in a free market and the smallest government possible. what is happening now in washington is a scary thing...obama and the democratic-laden district of columbia want to take over as much of our economic, social and judicial systems as possible - taking all of what power we as citizens currently have and transferring it to our government which is growing larger and more greedy as we sit here. the following is a short lesson i received in an email followed by a link to a petition not yet public, but you can sign now for a future release date in order to keep our free markets free and our governments gigantic and hopelessly incapable hands out of ours and future generations' wallets.

$50.00...

I recently asked my friends little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up.

She said she wanted to be President some day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, "If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?" She replied, "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people."

Her parents beamed.

"Wow!...what a worthy goal." I told her, "But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that. You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds and sweep my yard and I'll pay you $50. Then I'll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house."

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?"

I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party."

Her parents still aren't speaking to me.

of course, i would change it to libertarian party because i think the two parties we've had for so long have sadly become one, back-scratching good ol' boys club...but that's me...
